Quick Update

Posted in Reality TV, The Biz, Unworthy Man, Writing on February 9th, 2010 by Phil Abatecola

As I continue my directing stint on Hell’s Kitchen 8, I’ve also recently finished a new screenplay, my science fiction war epic The Darkest Run, along with a new outline for my new political drama S. Body, for both the silver screen and its little brother.  Later this week, I’ll be posting some notes on my new process for writing… a method I call “the window.”

Also, a star you’ve all seen on a certain, wildly popular CBS show is taking a look at starring in my noir, A Shadow in the Dark, this very moment, but will unfortunately have to remain nameless for now.  If all goes well, I’ll be posting an update when and if a deal is in place.

In other news, my partnership with 1080 inc, with whom I’ve developed several reality shows, is also spearheading development for a film concept I wrote some time ago, involving the future, a nerdy engineer, a devlish computer and… well… I can’t say more than this… it’s wild and kick ass.

Keep your fingers and toes crossed everyone.  The momentum is on my side.

Let’s push the universe to take me to that wonderful, and brutal, place of production.

Pushing on…

Work, Work, Work!

Taking This Ship DOWN!

Hell’s Kitchen is nearly done and in March I’ll continue putting together several projects to dip my toes back into narrative directing.

I’ve optioned and re-written Kg, an amazing script that was written by a close friend and fellow college alumni, Montgomery Montague III. Right now, I’m in the process of courting recognizable talent and we’re close to a shooting draft.

Also, Family Grief the short is at nearly the same stage as I and my writing partner, Kent Bernhard, also continue to revise the feature script.

Unworthy Man, my feature noir, is making some rounds around town and we’ll see what happens.

Mostly though, I’m just running around.  Right round, baby… like a record baby.

That is all…

Will Work For Food

Therapy Screen CaptureHollywood, 2008.

The straits are dire and circumstances… circular. Well, more obtuse really, but whose looking?

Accepting a job as a director/producer of a music video has been a welcomed challenge for me, but it has left little time to get my writing done. Beyond that, I helped spearhead an entertaining and fascinating reality television pilot with 3210 Films and my good friend Josh Davlin. The pilot, entitled Therapy, will be up for viewing in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for that!

In other, very exciting news, A Dollar a Day has been picked up by the same company and they will be taking it to market very soon along with Therapy! Let’s hope for some brevity here and may the universe allow us to sell these wonderful shows.

Also, I’ve recently partnered with a great sound designer and music producer extraordinaire Michael Archaki for the animatic of my feature, An Unworthy Man. Over the next few weeks, also keep an eye out for some samples of the storyboards and the animated version which Michael will be designing the sound for.

Alright, back to the obtuse grind stone.

A Dollar a Day and an Interview

A quick stop over in Thailand! In other news, I have finally gotten around to providing a glimpse into a reality television pilot I had the pleasure of working on. A Dollar a Day is an amazing concept with two, incredible hosts.

Basically, two lifelong friends, Brett Jones and Daniel Rios, travel throughout various third world countries during major cultural events, for seven days on only one dollar a day. Currently, it’s being shopped around to various reality and documentary networks.

Check out the video and take a cultural dive into the wonderful country of Nepal for, well… no money.

Also, for your reading pleasure is an interview I did regarding my play, The Time Machine, for 411mania.com. Read that bit HERE.

A Worthy Draft 3

Posted in The Biz, Unworthy Man on May 17th, 2007 by Phil Abatecola

Finally, after months of distractions and living the new scenes over and over again in my head, I have completed the third draft of Unworthy Man, a film noir about a broken cop on his final search for his sister’s rapist/murderer. Moving forward with this project is a very exciting prospect. Once I complete the play and my other obligations over the summer, I’m going to focus solely on getting this made.

Do or die is the name of the game here. Read more »
