RTFM!

Posted in The Biz on December 18th, 2006 by Phil Abatecola

Here I am, in my 30th hour of trying to output this rotten film out to tape.

Sleepless.  Not hungry, but eating anyway.  The $1000 a day deck has to go back in three hours.

I’m so tired.

So… tired.

Chase Update!

Posted in The Biz on December 18th, 2006 by Phil Abatecola

You can find it across the country soon. I’ve been submitting The Chase to multiple festivals across the country AND the world. Anyone who wishes can visit it’s official festival site on withoutabox.com and comment on it/participate in the festival with me wherever it/I go!

Check it out HERE!!

If you want to see the film online, you can either go to the page I created HERE or visit my Myspace page if the server is slow.

New artwork has also been created.

To be uploaded soon…

Babysitting

Posted in The Biz on December 18th, 2006 by Phil Abatecola

Okay then… no, I don’t have a baby.  But when you’re rendering a high definition film out on your G5, you might as well have one.  The process takes forever and you have to hang around in case there are any errors or if corrections need to be made.  AHHH!!!  So, we’re 10 hours into the render and in the final stretch.

In other news, the film Rounding Home has been oficially placed in my care and I will be receiving sole director credit as well as a co-producer, and maybe, a writer credit.  These are the first credits of their kind for me and my tenuous resume.  Hopefully I can take this fortunate windfall and push it until something bigger breaks.

Still no photos or clips yet.  Once this is all rendered out, I’ll have something to show.

I’m cold, sick and totally pumped.

Rambling… rendering… whatever…  YAY!!

Rejected Again!

Posted in The Biz on December 7th, 2006 by Phil Abatecola

I’ll keep this short, because I’m actually still working.

The latest news from Camp Abatecola is that Rounding Home has been rejected from not only Sundance, but also Slamdance. Also, I received notification that my short The Chase, which I directed, was also rejected from Sundance along with Over The Wall, which I wrote.

Seems like I’m back in highschool, swinging strikes with the ladies again.
What the fuck?

In any case, the films are off to many other festivals, and we will premier all of them very soon. Those two festivals are probably the most competative festivals in the world, so, what are you gonna do? I guess I gotta make more movies.

Anybody got a million dollars?

Keepin on…

The Trouble With Good News

Posted in The Biz on December 1st, 2006 by Phil Abatecola

So, it’s official! My feature Rounding Home has officially been rejected by the Sundance Film Festival! Why am I excited you ask? Because with every crumb of bad news, there lies a loaf of good news somewhere down the road.

As of right now, I have three films floating out to the festival circuit as I write this and odds dictate that I have a very good chance in being a part of a great many over the coming months. We’re waiting to hear back from AFI Dallas, The Los Angeles Film Festival, Slamdance and others.

Also, Rounding Home is heading into the final stretch. Onlining begins next week and our composer, Ted Masur, is doing a phenominal job. ADR is progressing nicely and our sound designer will be done soon. Things are getting exciting again.

Clips of the film and samples of the score will be up in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned though, because I’m getting into a festival dammit and then you’ll all be sorry!

To be rambled on later…
