Time Machine Website is UP!

Posted in The Biz, Time Machine on December 20th, 2007 by Phil Abatecola

Just a quick note for everyone before the Christmas holiday is upon us. My stage play H.G. Wells Time Machine finally has it’s very own website so that everyone may keep up to date on everything, see cast photographs, biographies and even buy tickets online. For now, it’s an introductory splash page, but by the beginning of January we expect to have everything up and running.

Be sure to bookmark the site at www.timemachinetheplay.com and stay tuned for all of the above and more. We have several interviews scheduled and we’ll be posting them directly.

Also, if you want an inside look into our eccentric Time Traveler, he took the time, while traveling through it, to give us enough information about him so that we could throw up his very own Myspace Page before he was off again.

Hopefully the Time Traveler will return if enough of you make him your friend and the effect ripples through time, causing him to make one last stop to tell us more about his extraordinary journey.

The Wall Street Journal Wants What?

Posted in The Biz, Time Machine on December 19th, 2007 by Phil Abatecola

Earlier in the month, a strange thing happened. A reporter from the Wall Street Journal literally stumbled upon my website and asked if I could be interviewed regarding reality television and the industry as a whole. I had to the think about it for a minute, but in the end, I said, HELL YEAH! As far as I’m to understand, the story covers the comings, goings and experiences of people behind the camera. I think that’s great. I don’t know if anyone will read that, but it’s great nonetheless!

For the most part, the questions were pretty basic. Have I been in any dangerous situations with cast members? How much interaction with the cast does the crew have? Is it where I want to be? Do cats and dogs really have secret wars with each other behind the backs of their owners, saving mankind/dogkind from the nefarious plans of fluffy white felines? You know, obvious stuff.

In any case, it was a great chance to plug The Time Machine and Dragon Fire. We’ll see if anything happens with it and I’ll link to the article once – if – it’s published.

Time Machine Rehearsals!

Posted in The Biz, Time Machine on December 10th, 2007 by Phil Abatecola

Reading the scriptLast Monday, the rehearsals for my stage play, H.G. Wells Time Machine, finally got under way! And with Hell’s Kitchen drawing to a close, it’ll be a good change of pace.

Besides losing one actor and having to fire another, the process has been amazing and I can’t wait for you all to see it. With about 8 different sets, two stages, an animated – moving – time machine, original score and sound design, the play is going to one of the most technical productions of my career thus far.

The scary part is that there are no edits, no cuts, no alternate angles and no do-overs during the live performances. If we screw up now, we’re screwed later.

Stay tuned and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog so that you can see all of the cast’s photos as they come in. Also, I’ll be posting a bunch of photos of the rehearsal.

The play opens January 25th at the Women’s Club of Hollywood and will run for seven weeks.

Next, I promise to fulfill… my promise of an awesome veggie sandwich recipe and about my interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Lucky Enough

Posted in The Biz, Time Machine on December 5th, 2007 by Phil Abatecola

There have been some exciting developments lately, but mostly, I’ve been lucky enough to obtain one of my absolutest most favoritest soundtracks in the whole wide world!

The Edge!

Jerry Goldsmith’s original motion picture soundtrack to the film, The Edge, starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. How I love this film!

The movie, directed by a very good director, Lee Tamahori, is wonderful, yet nothing without Jerry’s sweeping, epic soundtrack. The biggest shame in all of this is that Mr. Goldsmith is not with us anymore to take us away on these larger than life journeys he so inspires.

To PROVE to you why this soundtrack and Jerry Goldsmith will never die, just click on the following link to hear the 9th track on the album. You should watch it. The Edge is Jaws meets Deliverance, sans the squealing like a pig stuff.

LISTEN HERE, turn it up, then buy the soundtrack. It’s worth it.

After this little tidbit, I have a delicious recipe for the vegetable inclined, whose life just might resemble a filmmaker/college student/bachelor(ette)/those in a hurry.

Then, a small tale about a time machine, Big Brother 9, and an interview with the Wall Street Journal!
