Family Grief Short Script Completed

Posted in The Biz on July 16th, 2008 by Phil Abatecola

Great news! The companion short script of my feature comedy, Family Grief, has been completed! Writer Kent Bernhard has done an incredible job and we’ll be moving forward toward the end of summer once the script is refined and financing is in place.

At this point, I don’t have too much to add other than everything is still moving forward on everything. As it trickles in, you will be the first to know.

Back in 2006, The Chase was featured at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival. Two years later, my co-director James Crocket and I are still popping up. Click on the photo to see a large screen capture of us on the red carpet at AFI Dallas to promote the 2008 fest.

Both James and I wish we were there.

Hopefully, we soon will be.

BB 10 and Some Unworthy Cake

Big Brother 10 has officially commenced. In the meantime, my concert style music video, N-Demand, is going through process of editing now and will be up for viewing in the next two or three weeks. So far the footage looks amazing and I can’t wait to show it off.

Also, in an effort to get back to film festivals and keep up my directing chops on the narrative side, I’ve completed the rough draft of the short script, Cake. I intend on shooting shortly after BB has completed its latest season. With that said, I’m not only preparing to do one short, but three.

One, called 93 Kg, was written by my good friend Monty Montague, is a chilling sci-fi piece about desperation, and the other is based off my feature screenplay, Family Grief. Written by Kent Bernhard, Family Grief will be as poignant and hilarious as the feature length version.

Of course, all of these plans could be shattered by the potential SAG strike. We’ll see what happens.

And a quick tidbit of progress on my feature Noir, An Unworthy Man. Rewrites have begun and over 500 storyboards have been hand drawn by my friend and amazing artist, Neil D’Monte. Neil has done work for the latest Rambo film and the remake of Day of the Dead by Steve Minor!
